The Power of Collaboration: Our Relationship with Ivy Interiors

Some of the most meaningful parts of a design career aren't measured by a finished room. They're found in the relationships built along the way.

Denise's relationship with Ivy Interiors in Salt Lake City has been one of those relationships.

After years of working in the design industry, Denise joined the Ivy team and spent a year building relationships with the people there, learning the business from another perspective, and reconnecting with the design community in Salt Lake City.

When she eventually stepped away to focus more fully on her own design projects, she left on incredibly good terms—and the relationship didn't end there.

It evolved.

From Colleagues to Collaboration

One of the things Denise values most about Ivy is the people.

There is a genuine sense of friendship and collaboration that has continued beyond her time working there. The team is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and incredibly good at what they do. They source beautiful pieces, and there is a shared appreciation for quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design.

When Denise began working on the Stony Brook project and its 2024 Showcase of Homes, continuing that relationship made perfect sense.

She was able to work with Ivy to source furniture and other pieces for the home while also bringing her own design direction and vision to the project.

It became a true collaboration.

And that is what Denise loves about the design industry when it is working at its best: everyone brings something different to the table.

Designing Is Never a Solo Process

A finished home can sometimes make design look effortless.

You see the finished room—the furniture, lighting, art, textiles, and accessories—and it all feels as though it was meant to be there.

But behind that room is a long process.

There are conversations, sourcing, revisions, samples, measurements, fabrics, materials, deliveries, (we adore Ivy’s delivery team) and countless decisions that happen long before a space is photographed.

Having trusted people and businesses to collaborate with makes that process better.

Denise doesn't believe a designer needs to have every answer themself. Some of the best work happens when you know who to call, who has the right eye, who can source the right piece, and who shares your commitment to the final result.

That's one of the reasons her relationship with Ivy has been so valuable.

Rebuilding Community

When Denise left her previous position and began focusing more heavily on her own work, one of the things she wanted to do was add to the community she had worked so hard to create throughout her career.

Ivy became an important part of that.

The relationship has allowed her to continue collaborating with people she respects and trusts while also creating opportunities to bring beautiful pieces into the homes she's designing.

For Denise, that is what makes a professional relationship meaningful. It isn't simply about a transaction or a purchase. It's about friendship, shared vision, trust, and the willingness to create something together.

At the end of the day, Denise and the Ivy team share a similar philosophy: good design comes from choosing things thoughtfully.
